I have some good news and some bad news for you. I’m one of those people who always likes to save the best for last, so let’s dive right into the bad for just a moment…
The bad news is…
Whatever goal you’re going after, you aren’t going to achieve it. There, I said it. I’m sorry. I am here to drive results, not paint pictures of rainbows and unicorns.
Did that statement get you fired up though? I sure hope so! After all, who am I to say that you aren’t going to achieve your goal(s)?
Unfortunately, the following is the most common sequence for someone setting out on a new goal:
Gets motivated and sets new goal.
Starts going after new goal without a detailed plan of action.
Gets frustrated when immediate results don’t show.
Accepts failure as final.
Gives up and settles back into same old routine.
I see it time and time again. The same exact 5 phases.
What’s even worse, is when these same people set out on a new goal, they just go through the same exact 5 phases all over again.
And again..and again..and again.
They never stop to take a step back to realize that it IS NOT themselves that are failures. It is simply their system and approach to their goals.
Now that we’ve got that depressing news out of the way, are you ready for the good news?
Here it is…
You CAN achieve ANY goal in TIME.
While I may have been a little harsh in saying that you aren’t going to achieve your goal, there should have been an asterisk in there, noting that to be true only if you refuse to change your approach to achieving your goal.
If you already have an effective, foolproof system dialed in to achieving your goals, then I congratulate you. You are one of very few.
But if you are like many who are still trying to figure it out, don’t get frustrated and give up just yet. It’s not as difficult as you may think. At least it doesn’t have to be.
With the right planning, patience, and persistence, you will be well on your way to achieving your number one goal.
This is the number one reason why I decided to become a coach, because so many people give up too soon, when the ability is actually there. It’s only a matter of implementing the right mindset to keep pushing forward.
When your goals are more important than partying, you are a part of the 1%.
When exercise is more important than the couch, you are a part of the 1%.
When books are more important than television, you are a part of the 1%.
When every dollar invested is more important than every dollar wasted, you are a part of the 1%.
When living well below your means is more important than one-upping your neighbor, you are a part of the 1%.
…..the 1% aren’t “lucky”. They are disciplined and have a specific target.
